Adult Halloween Party Music - help needed

Our club had zero budget for an adult Halloween party this year. A small, but dedicated group of us still wanted to have it. My spouse & I have been asked to provide the tunes. This is putting a wee bit o' pressure on me to find a good mix that fits everybody. Any suggestions are most welcome! The average age is, well, middle-age with some "tragically hip" people thrown in for fun - and who'll do most of the dancing. I think we'll probably start with a Halloween-inspired mix, then switch to fun dance music later.

  • Hearts out for American Samoa

A few years ago, dear, dear friends from my son's play group relocated to Pago Pago, America Samoa. Her husband is a doctor and found a program that would help pay his medical school bills as well as satisfy their travelust. (Did I mention they both met in the Peace Corps during undergrad?) Fortunately as of last year, they are now in Hilo, Hawaii. They have two darling children, ages 8 and 4.

I talked to Deepa last night on email about the large earthquake near the islands. She said they've heard from a few of their friends. Everyone is fine. The damage is horrible. Also, that the tsunami didn't affect them in Hawaii as badly as they thought it would. She expects to hear more as the days go by.

I'm very thankful they weren't there. But my heart goes out to those who are over there, dealing with the aftermath - and after shocks.

  • My friend Bud's post about a dragonfly (http://buddly47.xanga.com/710242221/dazed-dragonfly), inspired me to post my pictures of a boring, brown dragonfly.

I was getting gas early one morning. He was hanging out on top of the pump. At first I thought it was just a boring, brown dragonfly. Closer inspection led me to appreciate his beautiful wings. I apologize for picture quality as I took these with my camera phone.

    Aren't his wings just something?

  • Trying to make a new habit

I'm trying to return to a disciplined blogging approach. I was inspired when I met some Blog Superstars at the Quincy Tea Party last weekend. (www.quincyteaparty.com) - Andrew Breitbart, Kevin Jackson, Glenn Reynolds & Roger Stone. While the Tea Party was a really neat grassroots gathering, it was the after party I enjoyed more. I will blog about that when I have more time.

For now, I need to make a kahlua chocolate sauce for the brownie bites I bought at Sam's Club. This is for the Art Center's art opening tonight. I have to bring an appetizer. I am also helping set up for our school's Speed Stacking Tournament tomorrow.

Have a good weekend everyone - actually, I should just say it to Bud. Bud you're so good about reading these posts & making good comments. I'm not saying  Saadia as she's still out-of-town with Leadership Illinois. Be certain, she'd be included if she was "here."  ;D
